The U.S. Air Force issued the MA-1 from the 1950s to the 1980s, and it is one of the most famous flight jackets of all time. Made to military specification MIL-J-82790J, the outer shell is Mil-spec sage nylon Flite Satin with an orange nylon lining and warm polyester batting insulation. Heavy nylon knit cuffs, collar, and waistband keep the chill out. It has flap pockets on the outside, snap pockets on the inside and a zippered
pen-and-pencil pocket on the sleeve. It is completely reversible for
emergency use.
