Constituted 67th Troop Carrier Squadron on 22 Jan 1943, it was activated in February 1943 and assigned to the 433rd Troop Carrier Group throughout WWII.
Initially stationed at Florence AAF Field, Missouri, the squadron transitioned through several State side bases until it reached Port Moresby, New Guinea, on 27 August 1943. It was also based at Nadzab, Hollandia, and Biak, all in New Guinea, until it was moved to Leyte in the Philippines, in January 1945; and to Clark Field, Luzon in June 1945.
The 67th was involved in aerial transportation during WW II, flying the Douglas C-47 from 1943 to 1944, and the C-46 from 1944 to 1945. Its Campaigns included the Air Offensive, Japan; New Guinea; Northern Solomons; Bismark Archipelago; Western Pacific and the Philippines.
For action in the Philippines, including the airborne assault at Aparri, Luzon, on 23rd June 1945, the squadron was awarded the Philippine Presidential Citation.
